FlickrBlog: The Flickr database is at the spa.
Some suggestions
1) it would be nice to see the following message !
treatment started at 10:53 CET and time is now 11:27 CET. The treatment is expected to last until 11:55 CET
2) i have seen websites collecting email address and inform when the site is back up! – in this way, you wow more visitors especially the first time grand ma visiting her first grand child 🙂
3) the permalink url title could be improved ! e.g., http://blog.flickr.com/flickrblog/2005/01/the_flickr_data.html title is FlickrBlog – This could be appended with the post title like “FlickrBlog: The Flickr database is at the spa.” > why: when bookmarking / blogging: title doesnot have to be changed…

I would like to know ahead of time when things are going down. I know they can’t predict everything, it just seems like Flickr has been at the masseus a lot lately.
I couldn’t agree more. I’d especially like to see #1 — a starting time and current time on the “massage” message page. That only seems like common sense to me.
A maintenance alert on each users page would be nice. I don’t check my mail everytime I use the web, so e-mail notification wouldn’t work. Putting the alert on their homepage wouldn’t suffice either, as I never look at the flickr home page. As a paying customer, I would certainly like to see maintenance notifications, more detailed “shunt” (notification) messages, and maintenance scheduled later in the evening. I just got in and was excited to post some photos I took today. Oh well…
this is what i paid for……….um how about a rain check.
They should schedule downtime after midnight, like other sites do. Not PEAK TIME.
